Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd., a leading multi-product bulk material export facility located on the North Vancouver waterfront is seeking one (1) individual to join our Safety and Environment team. The Environmental Systems Specialist plays a key role in ensuring all environmental documentation and associated programs meet regulatory requirements and best practices. This is a temporary, full - time role, reporting to the Environmental Manager.

The Environmental Systems Specialist will be will work closely with the Senior Environmental Systems Specialist and EHS Department to ensure compliance with Neptune’s Permit to Operate and best practices for Neptune’s Environ-mental Management System. This is a terminal site role based on a 40-hour per week (Monday to Friday); however, this role requires willingness and ability to work on a variable shift and the ability to be on standby.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coach and mentor, the workforce on environmental best practices and compliance
- Monitors, optimizes, and assists in water, air and waste treatment systems to ensure compliance with regulatory permits.
- Participate in environmental preventative maintenance programs for all environmental monitoring systems using best available proven technologies.
- Maintains operating and performance records including noise levels, air quality data analysis, flows, discharge water quality, and chemical usage.
- Conducts tours of the environmental systems as required.
- Works in conjunction with Senior Environment Systems Specialist to maintain, sample and report weekly, monthly, quarterly and event results.
- Coordinates equipment shut-downs and assists other work groups with maintenance tasks as required.
- Monitors and performs calibration, and cleaning of analyzers, turbidity meters, air monitors, water sampling equip-ment and various other environmental technical devices.
- Attends to alarm calls and responds to upset conditions including prevention of spills to the environment during and after normal working hours.
- Conduct inspections on environmental procedures, practices and operational compliance.
- Attends weekly management meetings to advise and report on the status of Neptune’s environmental systems.
- Assists in the training of staff if/as required.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Sound knowledge of basic process control system and operating systems as it relates to wastewater, well water distribution, air emission, and noise monitoring.
- Ability to perform or direct laboratory tests on water supplies and plant processes to optimize quality and plant performance.
- Knowledge of safety practices, procedures, and occupational hazards and the ability to react promptly and effectively in emergencies.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position; willingness and ability to work on a variable shift; ability to be on standby.
- Valid Level 5 BC driver’s license.
