Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) invites you to consider an outstanding opportunity to deliver high-quality Surgical Assist coverage to the Hospital's Departments of General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. **We are actively recruiting FULL & PART-TIME SURGICAL ASSISTANT PHYSICIANS.**

Our beautiful, family orientated community located in Southwestern Ontario is just 30 minutes east of London and 20 minutes north of Lake Erie. We are a skilled group of well-trained, experienced and supportive staff dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. Our rural ED visits number approximately 29,000 per year. We have excellent medicine, surgical and anaesthesia back-up available 24/7. TDMH has state-of-the-art equipment including 24-hour laboratory services, respiratory services, x-ray and CT scanner. We also have a regionally integrated electronic medical record system and Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS).

TDMH is a progressive fully accredited 45-bed full-service community hospital that provides both inpatient and outpatient care to a population of approximately 45,000 in Tillsonburg and surrounding area. TDMH is a full-service active treatment hospital with 30 Acute Care beds, 5 Intensive Coronary Care Unit beds, and 10 Complex Continuing Care beds. Our Surgical Program is strong with two full-time General Surgeons who provide mínimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy services in addition to a generalist Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Working under the general direction of the Chiefs of the Departments of General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery, the Surgical Assistant would assist surgeons during elective daytime and on-call/after-hours cases. Responsibilities would include patient positioning, intra-operative surgical assisting, closure and patient transfer.

The Surgical Assistant schedule is flexible but opportunities exist for full time 5-OR day/week assisting in addition to after hour coverage. Remuneration is Fee for Service ("FFS") billings through OHIP though an after hour-call stipend may be available.

**_We offer a mentorship program for our new Surgical Assistants in order to help them in developing Operating Room confidence and providing support in the transition into practice._**
