Emulsion Polymer Chemist

**What You'll Do**
- Design and develop new emulsion polymers, identify and explore the feasibility of new technologies and chemistries for water borne wood coatings
- Independently plan and synthesize polymers within a specified time frame
- Lead the scale up process from lab to production scale
- Work with the R&D Team to then prepare experimental wood coatings formulations
- Adhere to and promote company’s safety standards and keep the lab areas clean and in safe working condition.
- Collaborate with team members and maintain instrumentation
- Maintain accurate records and lab books, and respect company confidentiality policy

**Qualifications**
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in polymer chemistry/engineering
- 3-5 years of work experience in polymerization and synthesis methodologies
- Creativity with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record in synthesizing water-based resin development a definite asset.
- Experience with analytical measurement techniques such as Gas Chromatography, FT-IR, DSC, and Rheology.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Projects, etc)
- Demonstrated and thorough record keeping skills
- Comfortable learning and becoming proficient in new systems and processes

**Requirements**:

- Reliable form of transportation to get to and from work is a must
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team
- Flexible and available to work extra hours **IF** required
