**Your opportunity**:
This role is part of the Education Technology Office (ETO)’s Content Production team. While this role is the ETO’s main video editor, it is also a hands-on role; you’ll be on set, setting up for filming, investigating new and improved technologies and equipment, and participating (with support from your team lead, the Senior Educational Technologist) in media production from start to finish.
Enjoy and thrive working on something different every day. The ETO often works on multiple projects (often at different stages of development) at the same time. One week might see you editing a few videos, then you might be filming an interview, the next filming on location in a lab.
Have strong video editing skills. This is the key aspect of the role and your strengths will be in video editing (e.g., getting the most out of a greenscreen recording, super imposing graphics, filming b-roll). You will often be working on a set of videos per module, expected to edit and render a series of videos with the same design template and format.
Understand the principles of multimedia design to support learning. The ETO creates educational media content, which is has different goals and production constraints and your skills will contribute to creating not only a enjoyable viewing experience but will promote learning.
Contribute to improving internal processes for efficiencies. We’re always looking for ways to improve our production process. You’ll use your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to share suggestions to improve team workflows.
**Your responsibilitieswill include**:
- Editing post-production audio and/or visual material
- Advising clients on best digital media solutions available
- Assessing and determining best practices and standards for multiple instructional modalities
- Keeping well-informed on industry best practices and trends
- Determining the optimal presentation of video, audio and still images
- Conducting photography and/or videography shoots
- Implementing production activities according to plans and schedules
- Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials
- Setting up and organizing films sets (including lighting)
- Providing feedback during filming to improve capture
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of related experience in video editing and media production
- Comprehensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop)
- Experience setting up for a 1-2 person talking head with basic three-point lighting in studio or on-location
- Familiar with other e-authoring and content creation tools and software such as Articulate, Canva, Camtasia
