Job Summary
A Cuna Railway Foreman is a leadership position. The role of a foreman is to work with a Cuna team in safely executing projects, maintenance, and various shop related tasks. A successful foreman will be able to clearly communicate to their team and ensure work is to be completed safely and efficiently.

**Responsibilities**:
- Must embrace Cuna Rails safety culture and adhere to industrial and company policies and procedures.
- Lead a Cuna team and report directly to the supervisor.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety talks, job briefings and audits then send in reports daily to the supervisor.
- Keep inventory of tools and consumables of trucks.
- Identify, document, and report any performance or safety incidents to supervisor.
- Help plan projects with supervisor and project manager.
- Review and execute plans with Cuna team.
- Mentor Cuna team members on safety and daily tasks.
- Preparation and maintenance of various common and specialized hand tools for assigned work and use of such tools in a safe manner.
- Performs equipment safety and maintenance checks when required.
- Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
- Winter duties may include cleaning railway switches, snow removal and track repairs on customer sites as needed.
- Summer duties may include lubricating switches, cutting vegetation, clearing ditches, maintenance, repairs, and construction on customer sites as required.
- Keep work area clean and organized to finish the job safely and efficiently.
- Understand and comply with track safety standards, operating rules, and safe work procedures.
- Adhere to other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 4 years of Railway experience.
- Must have a valid class G driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
- Basics of Supervisor certification would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of Railway construction foreman experience.
- Must have own reliable transportation to and from Cuna shop in North Bay when required.
- CROR and TIGs would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be adaptable to any situation.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
Physical Requirement
- Uses repetitive motions.
- Uses close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Physically fit must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
- Exposed to loud noise.
- A safety-oriented work ethic.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods of time day or night.
- May have to be clean shaving at certain customer sites.
