The role of Information Services and Technology (IST) and the Digital Learning Environments (DLE) portfolio is to create powerful digital learning environments that support and transform teaching and learning at the University of Alberta. Our goal is to make the experience of every instructor and student positive, simple, and seamless in order to achieve their scholastic objectives.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Team Lead, Learning Spaces OS & Application Provisioning, the Intermediate Systems Analyst (Windows) supports the computing infrastructure for learning spaces at the University of Alberta.

**Duties**
- Provides support to clients within the teaching and learning environment on campus
- Deploys desktops or performs upgrades to stabilize, optimize and consolidate departmental IT
- Provides installation, configuration, and updating of software licensing managers
- Performs regular software security patching and updating to ensure integrity of the services
- Provides support for Microsoft Active Directory group objects/policies to manage users, software and system behaviour within various environments
- Provides support for high profile certification exams and assessment on campus
- Communicates with clients to resolve service requests and conduct need assessments
- Troubleshoots and coordinates the resolution of potential and actual service incidents
- Performs root cause analysis of major incidents. Some cases may involve multiple systems/teams and affect hundreds to tens of thousands of users or computers
- Documents configurations and processes while ensuring they are current and fit for purpose
- Works closely with senior team staff, team members, and IST colleagues
- Ensures that all requests for support are dealt in accordance to IST change management policies and procedures using the appropriate tools
- Standby, and on-call duties may be required on a rotating basis
- Acting team lead duties may be assumed on an occasional basis

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Computing Science or related field or equivalent technical diploma combined with relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years working in a large and complex IT environment
- Proven technical competency in virtualized Windows OS image development, software delivery, and server administration
- Proven technical competency in the configuration and support of desktop workstations (Windows 10/11) and related services such as, but not limited to, hardware deployment and software installation, hardware diagnostics
- Functional competency with the Microsoft Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) platform including Microsoft Active Directory administration
- Operational knowledge of networking, vlans, and DHCP protocols
- Demonstrates analytical and systemic approaches to problem-solving
- Strong organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively
