PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Supervise Prairie Crane Inc. field personnel and ensure all work is performed in accordance with Prairie Crane’s Safety, Business and Quality Standards and is in accordance with Prairie Crane policies and procedures, leading by positive example.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

General and Essential Job Activities
- Conduct all business in a professional, respectful manner
- Supervise and motivate operators and apprentices to ensure and enforce all work is carried out in accordance with Prairie Cranes Health & Safety Program (HSP), business policies and procedures, including the use of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ensure work is started and completed in a timely manner
- Understand, support, communicate and enforce all of Prairie Crane’s HSP policies and procedures and all of Prairie Crane’s operational policies and procedures
- Report all near misses and incidents to the Safety Department
- To assist dispatch (When required) and ensure all necessary equipment, manpower and additional resources are planned and ready for the execution
- Work with client to plan and execute the work including selection of appropriate equipment from the office or onsite (where required)
- Support operators and apprentices if on site disputes or uncertainties arise. Work with client to resolve any such disputes
- Ensure field level risk assessments are completed, signed off, documented and filed, where applicable
- Complete site visits when required; gather proper information for the execution of the job once Prairie Crane Team is deployed.
- Operate equipment if necessary and supervise jobs when required
- Assist Jack and Slide department, quoting, site visits and all co-ordination and/or supervision of all Jack and Slide jobs required at Prairie Crane Inc.
- Assist Truck and Transport division with equipment being serviced, cleaned, misc. equipment (Straps, fire extinguishers, etc) are up to date and all maintenance requirements have been communicated/scheduled with North Country Customs. This includes auditing logbooks to make sure all operators are filling out their daily paperwork. (includes LD vehicles - All PC-vehicles)
- Training of apprentices to make sure that they have been deemed competent on the equipment they are operating as well as the training of all operators when required or warranted. Paperwork is to be completed, signed off and handed into the safety office. This also included the review of all Operator binders to get familiar with each operators capabilities and training requirements
- Supervise when required, this includes critical lifts, tandem lifts, any site where a Supervisor would be required, when needed
- Assist with scaling for the purposes of quoting to clients in combination with site visits.
- Review, scale and supervise taxi and site jobs
- Effective planning, preparing and running of job sites
- Assist dispatcher and operations manager with daily dispatching of taxi fleet when required
- Communicate with clients about ongoing jobs
- Review and assist customers with contracts and quotes
- Ensure yard is kept in order
- Audit cranes and sites
- Attend safety meetings
- Assist with Prairie Crane’s safety rules and ensure compliance
- Incident investigations
- Complete paper work (lift form, report)
- Assist labourer with collecting paper work
- Coordinate 3rd party trucking for transport of cranes
- Assist with Sales on a regular basis with visiting sites to find out what is happening next in the construction process. Bring in new clients, and keep existing relationships with our current ones.
- Discipline employees when required with Prairie Crane standard reporting; Verbal, written and suspensions documented with the safety office. All suspensions are to be discussed and agreed to by the Operations Manager and/or General Manager.
- Coverage during holidays where required, be familiar with all roles and responsibilities of both Crane and Rig Supervisors

Other Skills/Abilities/Certifications Required
Construction Trade Certification, Driver’s License, Must be Trade Certified Journeyman in Crane & Hoisting Equipment Operator / Equivalent experience / Registered apprentice in his/her 3rd Year with the intent of finishing in due course.
