Primary Duties
Reporting to the Supervisor, Inspection and Support, the successful student will be required to assist the Inspection and Support department with collecting, maintaining and editing GIS data through file and enterprise databases in ArcGIS Online. Other duties include:

- Developing, editing and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products.
- Analyzing spatial information, reviewing databases, generating data queries, and summarizing statistics.
- Importing and exporting data in a variety of formats (gdb, shp, dxf, dwg, csv, xls, etc.).
- Rectify, digitize and convert vector and raster data into ESRI GIS formats.
- Verifying and Collecting data through field visits using mobile devices and GPS.
- Ongoing support to the Utilities Engineering Manager and GIS Team.
- Maintenance and Production of maps using ESRI software and Arc GIS online.

Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
- Experience and knowledge of infrastructure information systems, GIS databases and ESRI ArcGIS Online.
- Experience and knowledge of working with survey grade differential GPS equipment an asset.
- Knowledge of Electric, Sewer, Water, Natural Gas and Fibre distribution systems, an asset.
- Knowledge of geometric networks, an asset.
- Knowledge of basic cartographic principles, projections and coordinate systems
- Experience and knowledge of MS Office suite including Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
- Attention to detail and accuracy with good data management and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and policy guidelines
- Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to the team.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Online, Autocad, FME, html and Python, an asset.

Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment
- Full-time student at a recognized post-secondary educational institution, and returning to full time attendance in the Fall of 2023.
- Completion of a Criminal Record Check at the employee’s own expense, and to the satisfaction of Utilities Kingston.
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license.
