**Position Summary**:
Reporting into the Chair, School of Fashion, The Fashion Technician provides technical, logístical, and administrative support to the School of Fashion programs and various ongoing projects to support a more virtual, sustainable, and equitable environment for fashion students.

**Responsibilities**:
***Equipment Maintenance**
- Maintain equipment in the dedicated FAA labs including, sewing machines, pressing equipment, dress-making forms, irons, and specialty sewing equipment.
- Analyse repairs and orders and where appropriate performing routine maintenance. When requisitioning outside services for equipment repairs.
- Demonstrate to students proper use of specialized equipment using standard faculty instructions.
- Train new faculty when appropriate, on how the equipment in the Fashion labs operates.

***Fashion Resource Centre Support**
- Works as the main contact for the Seneca Fashion Resource Centre and supports with the following task.
- Selects pieces (garments and accessories) to dress mannequin based on curriculum requirements from the School of Fashion for the Fashion History lab and window on the fourth floor.
- Assists with 360 Degree Photography Project and works with the Chair and donors to write accurate descriptions and categorize the garments properly.
- Participates in sustainability projects by gathering all the current sustainability work being done and creates a guide to be shared with the School of Fashion faculty.
- Supports faculty in gathering resources to develop new program content.
- Develops new blocks and patterns for specific markets (gender fluid, plus size etc) in digital format. In order to get this done a Digitalizer, plotter, digital cutter or laser cutter have to be used.

**Administration**
- Provides FAB/FBM Faculty with additional support to oversee the technical elements of the retail learning lab (ecommerce). This may include website updates, ensuring goods are shipped in a timely manner to customer, demonstrating to students on the digital aspect of the retail operations while focusing on Lightspeed and excel as the main tools.
- Operates the Fashion Store in the afternoons by helping students to purchase/choose supplies and collect fees.
- Tracks inventory, and purchases associated with the store operation.

**Other duties as assigned**

**Qualifications**:
***Education**
- Completed three (3) year post-secondary Diploma/Degree in Apparel Construction or Fashion Design and Production.

**Experience**
- Minimum of one (1) years’ work experience with industrial sewing machines, irons, têxtiles, and allied fashion production equipment.
- Experience with pattern-making software Gerber is an asset.

**Skills**
- Strong communication and active listening skills and ability to interact effectively with our multi-racial/cultural/able college community including students, staff, and faculty.
- Self-starter with strong project, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize workflow, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
