The Grande Prairie mill is a 1000+ tonne per day Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill. It currently operates with approximately 380 mill employees in a high-performance, results-oriented environment.

**The Position**:
This position reports to either the shift Front Line Leader or the Fiber line Area Process Manager in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.

As part of our Pulping and Bleaching Operations team, you will start working a 4 x 10 hours days shift unloading Sodium Chlorate and then transition to working 12 hour shifts (days & nights). To begin with your primary focus will be the safe and reliable unloading of Sodium Chlorate rail cars, developing safe operating procedures, and training other mill personnel to perform this function. You will be required to troubleshoot and correct process problems as well as provide support to the other processes in the area. Once knowledge has been shared with other employees on the Sodium Chlorate process, it is the expectation that you will acquire the operating skills, in a timely manner, for the Digester, Brown Stock Washing, and Bleach Plant and Chemical Preparation/R8 areas and perform shift work in those areas as part of the greater team.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- The role will start with a 4x10 hrs schedule on days and then be transitioned to follow the 12 hour compressed work week schedule (shift work).
- Unload Sodium Chlorate rail cars.
- Develop SOPs and train other operators to reliably unload Sodium Chlorate rail cars.
- Flexibility to work overtime to provide shift coverage, attend business meetings and necessary training.
- Operate all processes in the Pulping and Bleaching Department.
- Able to perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to develop the skills to safely work with hazardous chemicals.

- Familiarity with the existing electronic information and work management systems.

**Qualifications**:
Required qualifications include:

- High school diploma, GED.
- Willing and able to work overtime.
- Willing to work a compressed 12-hour shift (days and nights).
- Experience using a computer for record keeping and documentation.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and constructively, as well as good verbal and written English skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Comprehension of work instructions and documentation as well as the ability to perform duties with little direction.
- Proactive approach to troubleshooting/problem identification.
- Able to perform physically demanding work.
