**Key Responsibilities**:
Lakeland College is seeking an innovative, highly motivated individual to assume the key position of Dean, Business & Energy. The Dean is responsible for providing high quality educational and training programs in Business and Energy. In Business, these include the Business diploma, Accounting Technician certificate, Administrative Professional certificate, and the Business Administration certificate. In Energy, programs include the Power Engineering Technician certificate, Process and Power Engineering diploma and the online 3rd and 4th class Power Engineering certificates. Additionally this position is responsible for delivering and growing continuing education courses and micro-credentials in both Business and Energy including courses in oil and gas production.
With a student-centric focus and top of mind, the Dean, Business & Energy provides hands-on leadership, clear direction, and coordination to Chairs, Faculty and Staff for the definition, development, and delivery of educational programs and services in the Business & Energy schools.
**Plan, coordinate, and manage all educational programming and services within the Schools of Business and Energy**.
- Provide thoughtful leadership for the planning, development, delivery, evaluation, and modernization of programs.
- Conduct regular reviews and revisions of programs, marketing plans, staff evaluations and budgets.
- Coordinate development, establishment and execution of Program Advisory Committees and Industry Advisory Committees.
- Consult, communicate, and engage regularly with Vice President Academic & Research, Deans, Managers, Faculty, Staff, and Chairs regarding the alignment of the Schools programming directions to the College's mission and mandate.
**Student Relations**
- Foster a student-centric focus in the Schools and engage with students when making decisions that affect them.
- Develop and implement effective student recruitment, orientation and retention strategies and processes.
- Balance student growth with preserving small college qualities.
- Work with Chair and Faculty to adjudicate student appeals and ensure that facilitation is available.
**Liaison: Internal and External Stakeholders**
- Provide representation of the Schools for Dean's Council, Academic Council, Advisory and Industry committees, and any other groups when appointed.
- Represent the College in external relationships, including industry and trade associations, producer groups, contractors, government ministries and other educational institutions as required.
- Provide leadership and coordination for the negotiation of course and program transfer agreements with other educational institutions and training partners.
- Renew and develop new relationships with external organizations for the purpose of soliciting information about client group training needs, attracting students to our programs, and developing training contracts.
**Operational Management: Human Resources and Budgets**
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and direct and administer operating and capital budgets for the Schools of Business and Energy.
- Provide direction to Chairs, Program Heads, Faculty and Staff for the planning, management and reporting of all operational, physical, and human resources within the mandate of the Schools.
- Foster a high performing culture by celebrating successes together and removing barriers that impede the Schools goals.
- Foster an environment where leadership participates and supports human resources initiatives within the Schools.
- Provide information regarding user needs within the scope of the Systems Implementation Program.
**Strategic Planning for the Schools of Business and Energy**
- In concert with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, manage Lakeland’s Mission and Vision collaboratively.
- Develop and implement a Growth Model and a Delivery Method strategy for the Schools.
- Lead, develop, and implement a successful School Marketing plan using pertinent market research initiatives and data.
**Job Requirements**:
- Five years of leadership experience in the post-secondary environment
- A completed degree in a related field is essential
- A graduate degree is preferred
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Experience in strategic planning, implementation and Integration
- In-depth knowledge of funding opportunities; proposal and grant writing are essential
- Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred
- Travel within the province is required
