Construction Superintendent

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
VTEK is seeking a Senior Construction Superintendent to lead a team of skilled tradespeople in a union and non-union environment for a major project in the Fort Saskatchewan area.
Reporting to the Construction Manager the Construction Supervisor is responsible for the following:
- Support the Construction Manager and construction management team to provide leadership to manage project construction activities to meet project KPI’s, safety, budgets, scope, schedule, and deliverables;
- Provide on site safety leadership and is responsible for orderliness on-site and ensure all stakeholders (contractors) are in compliance with all HSSE regulations;
- Review contractors' schedules, this includes forward planning with the contractor to ensure that overall project schedules are being met;
- Responsible for the day-to-day direction and supervision of on-site contractors and other field resources supporting the construction management of the project;
- Manage construction related interfaces/interactions with contractors, Owners/Client, Owner/Client Representatives including managing a team of Construction Workers, Labourers, and Field Coordinators;
- Maintaining a daily log of construction site operations and identifying any gaps or areas that need to be addressed;
- Maintaining records for site personnel such as daily field reports, field orders, and RFIs;
- Coordinate with stakeholders for the execution of the work;
- Coordinating deliveries of material and equipment with suppliers and vendors;
- Coordinate and address field technical enquiries;
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks to the Construction Manager;
- Work with the construction management team to understand, analyze and manage risks;
- Monitor the cost and schedule of the project;
- Monitor and influence contractor performance;
- Monitor and confirm quality requirements are met;
- Inform the Construction Manager of any delay or problem in construction activities;
- Work with the Construction Manager manage scope of work;
- Implement techniques and strategies that are safe, efficient, and cost-effective;
- Ensure that the project follows the stated strategies and plans, ensuring that codes, standards, regulations, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements are met;
- Ensures design and specification comply.
**PROFILE/EXPERIENCE**
- Relevant experience in a similar position;
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector with major projects ;
- Experience in managing teams of union and non-union personnel;
- Strong safety orientation, able to anticipate and mitigate risks;
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills and active listening skills;
- Thorough understanding of budgeting best practices in construction projects;
- Excellent planning and organizational skills;
- Understanding of construction sequencing, resource planning,
- Thorough knowledge of equipment use, maintenance, and operation;
- Comprehensive understanding of local, provincial, and federal construction regulations;
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Time management and delegation skills;
**EDUCATION**
- Alberta Red seal trade Certificate;
- Construction Management Certificate is an asset.
