**Position Summary**:
The school of Health, Human, and Justice studies is seeking RNs registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario for faculty positions including nursing skills lab instructors and clinical instructors for student groups in practice areas such as adult medical surgical, chronic or rehab care, care of the elderly, labour and delivery, neonatal, paeds, primary/community health, and mental health. Some clinical placements and labs may take place during evening hours. Reporting to the Associate Dean, with a flexible schedule and in-person classes, the part-time Professor will facilitate the delivery of courses within the above programming incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, which are designed to successfully meet the needs of learners.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Teaches the course using best practices and adult education principles
- Builds on developments syllabus and course material, based on the course outline and the existing teaching materials, which becomes part of the course teaching material used by future faculty
- Ensures that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
- Creates an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
- Develops and implement course learning outcomes and alternative delivery strategies, ensuring that they support and reflect program goals
- Assures that students are aware of all relevant learning outcomes, learning strategies and assessment techniques
- Assesses student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback
- Develops multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporate appropriate educational technologies into the learning process
- Liaises effectively with internal and external partners, to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment
**Qualifications**:
- Interest in clinical teaching and working with novice nursing students.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of current and relevant clinical experience (adult medical and/or surgical, care of the elderly, mental health, obstetrics/labour & delivery, neonates/paeds, primary/community care, public health).
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse in the Extended Class.

- Previous experience in clinical instructing/precepting is an asset
- A proven commitment to achieving and developing excellence in others
- Relative training and a commitment to lifelong learning in the field
- A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Advanced computer literacy and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s “Canvas” System) commensurate with departmental requirements
