The City of Port Moody Community Development Department is looking for a positive, self-motivated and energetic professional to provide technical assistance and support to the Development Planning Division as a Planning Analyst.

**Responsibilities**
- The Planning Analyst provides a wide range of technical and analytical support to the Development Planning Division. The main responsibilities of the position include:

- Prepares reports, letters, and preliminary lot approvals complete with recommendations and outlining the conditions and rationale for the recommendation
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing internal and external stakeholder referrals
- Liaises with and provides technical information on policies, procedures, bylaws, and other requirements to a variety of applicants
- Conducts site inspections to gather information or assess compliance
- Develops and maintains spreadsheets/databases
- Prepares zoning and official community plan amendment bylaws
- Performs varied work related to public consultation including attending and assisting with meetings with developers, community groups and other stakeholders

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field with two years of relevant experience in a municipal planning environment (Diploma in Applied Planning is an asset); or
- Master’s Degree in Planning supplemented by one year of relevant experience experience in a municipal planning environment
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Familiarity with rezoning processes and a working knowledge of zoning and land use regulations, official community plans and related policies and plans is strongly preferred.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Sound knowledge of community planning and urban design theories, practices, principles and processes
- Experience reviewing architectural drawings, technical reports, and providing critical commentary
- Strong organizational skills and assisting with project management
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to work independently, with teams and the public
- A proven ability to self-manage workload, respond to changing priorities and to meet tight timelines
- Experience using Tempest or another land-based tracking system is an asset
- Sound research and analytical abilities with demonstrated experience in planning research, data, monitoring, policy analysis and communicating findings.
- Working knowledge of, and experience with GIS software (e.g. MapInfo, ArcGIS), proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with external data sources e.g. Statistics Canada, BC Stats and BC Assessment
