**HOUSEKEEPER**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**POSITION**:Housekeeper
**DEPARTMENT**: Environmental Services
**REPORTS TO**: Facility Support Manager

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the Home in a sanitary condition. This includes maintaining a floor care program, through deep cleaning, as well as day-to-day activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum completion of Grade Twelve (12) required,
- Knowledge and ability to operate and use institutional Floor Care equipment,
- Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills,
- Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis,
- Must be comfortable working around seniors.

**General Duties**
- Receives and organizes supplies and equipment,
- Collects and disposes of garbage,
- Performs appropriate cleaning and disinfecting procedures on all assigned areas,
- Cleans and replenishes supplies in resident and non-resident washrooms,
- Responsible for draperies and privacy curtains in assigned areas,
- Transfers residents' personal belongings when moving to another room or leaving the Home,
- Responsible for the routine cleaning of equipment,
- Reports all necessary repairs and equipment malfunctions as per the home's policy and procedures,
- Cleans soiled linen rooms,
- Is familiar with the home's Policies, Procedures, Fire and Safety, and Emergency Procedures and carries out guidelines of same,
- Attends staff education sessions as required,
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Ensures that all information of the Home is treated in strict confidence,
- Ensures that requests made by all parties are not in conflict with privacy legislation,
- Ensures that the privacy and dignity of residents, families, and staff are protected in all transactions with the Home.

- Maintains and promotes health and safety standards and procedures according to the home's guidelines and resident care standards to a level consistent with recognized provincial standards including ethical guidelines.
- Ensures compliance of all applicable regulatory laws, by-laws, codes, standards, guidelines and acts.
- Promotes a safe and healthy workplace for staff and volunteers.
- Promotes a safe and healthy environment for residents and their families.
- Participates, when required in initiatives that minimize risk and promote safety.
- Ensures that risks are minimized and proactively addressed for the interest of the Home.
