**Other Information**:The role of the Assistant is to support the K.A.P. Instructor and to support the implementation of
emergent curriculum.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supports child-centered programming.
- Supports the planning of programming including developing materials and shopping for supplies as required.
- Set up/clean up for daily programming prior/after each session.
- Supports the Instructor with the daily snack that follows Canada’s Healthy Food Guide.
- Supports the Instructor by completing daily observations on students including programming needs,

strengths, and interests.
- Attends Collaborative Program Meetings (School Based and Division Based).
- Follows the daily programming plans as set out by the instructor that includes learning goals for small/large

group and play/exploration time.
- Supports the documentation of student learning.
- Takes part in professional development opportunities as laid out by the Early Years Literacy Consultant.
- Submits timesheets/expense sheets.
- Participates in annual performance review with Administrator and Early Years Literacy Consultant.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven ability to work with young children
- Ability to work as a team with the program facilitator
- Excellent organizational skills
- Creativity working to support learning programs for young children
- Ability to create a positive learning environment
- Ability to organize and participate in recreational activities such as games
- Observe and monitor children’s play activities
- Keep records/daily observations of children

Salary & benefits for this position will be administered in accordance with the agreement between the applicable
employee group and the Seine River School Division.
