Job Summary:
Working under the direction of the Superintendent, Instrumentation/Electrical, the Supervisor will be responsible for assigning shop and field activities to Instrumentation Technicians to ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance procedures are carried out in a timely manner. Safe work execution is of utmost importance. As such, safety training and procedure familiarity will be a focus and expectation from all technicians.

This is a supervisory position with a component of technical input for problem solving and new equipment proposals in this specialized field.

**Job Description**:
What you’ll do:

- Demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to the facility safety culture through active, positive participation in EHS safety programs and initiatives.
- Ensure awareness of and compliance with facility EHS policies and safety standards throughout the team. Ensure timely compliance with Corporate EHS findings.
- Responsible for the organization and supervision of those involved in the execution of field instrumentation work.
- Responsible for the direction of employees and contractors to complete instrument maintenance activities in a safe, efficient, and timely manner while adhering to plant quality control procedures.
- Co-ordinate all Instrumentation maintenance activities through preventative and corrective measures. Co-ordinate completion of maintenance work schedules necessary to assure reliability of the plant equipment.
- Actively participate in the development of weekly and turnaround work schedules. Compliance work progress off the schedule as it is executed.
- Participate in the monthly review and validation of the work backlog with the Maintenance Superintendent and Production Department representatives.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with Maintenance, Production & Engineering personnel to anticipate problems and recommend potential solutions.
- Conduct meetings to inform and co-ordinate those involved in maintenance procedures of a non-routine or complex nature.
- Maintain ongoing familiarity with procedures, equipment and processes through personal initiative. Suggest personal development training opportunities as identified.
- Review present technology to stay abreast of new developments for opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Ensure that equipment obsolescence is managed within the confines of budgetary and time constraints.
- Participate in plant turnaround work scope development by making recommendations for equipment maintenance and inspections as identified by the Maintenance and Production Departments.
- Utilize and develop the talents of those supervised in order to ensure competence in the areas of planning, supervision and craft skills to meet present and future company objectives
- Perform performance evaluations and develop performance expectations for staff. Hold technicians accountable for achieving their goals and review progress on a periodic basis.
- Manage vacation scheduling and absenteeism such that Plant maintenance and reliability continues.
- Manage an On-Call rotation of qualified technicians so that the plant site has priority coverage as required during off-shift hours.

**Required Skills**:

- Instrumentation Technologist, Engineering Degree or valid Instrumentation Journeyperson
- 5 -7 years’ experience with knowledge of Instrument/Electrical or Controls Systems field, in a manufacturing environment.
- Competent in use of computer systems and administration processes.
- This is a supervisory position and experience in mentoring and performance management is an asset.
