**Job Title**: PQS Certified - Construction Cost Consultant

**Location**:Work from Home / On-site

**Company Overview**:We are a small fast-growing cost consulting firm working in the construction industry. The company is headquartered in Calgary, Canada. We help clients navigate through the complexities in construction cost management by providing cost estimating and consulting services.

We're looking for an experienced contract-based quantity surveyor with at least ten years of experience in fire and flood restoration, small to medium construction. Strong communication skills are key, especially for interactions with clients. This role involves extensive document review, attending mediation for dispute resolution files, communication and coordination with the internal consulting team and other QS-related tasks.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Act as a witness during the mediation process.
- Interfaces with clients and project representatives - lawyers, adjusters, contractors, property owners, builders, etc.
- Review large documents and prepare summary.
- Schedule and perform field inspections and necessary site visits to evaluate the scope of work/damage.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, understanding their needs and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure projects meet client requirements, deadlines, and budgets.
- Communicate and attend site with third-party inspection companies including but not limited to structural engineers, architects, contractors, environmental inspections, etc.
- Provide technical direction to other consultants, interacting and supporting their files.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- PQS Certification from CIQS is mandatory.
- Ability to read large documents and retain information. You will be tested on this skill as this is mandatory for this job.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited college or university; or 10+ years of demonstrable experience and accomplishments in the restoration industry, in lieu of a degree may suffice.
- Minimum five years of experience in fire and flood restoration with experience in client interactions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for site visits.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and documents.
- Be able to work flexible hours as needed.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- IICRC-related, credentials, or certifications.
- RRO, PMP, and other certifications.

**Physical And Mental Job Qualifications**:

- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- May be exposed to UV radiation from the sun, radon, or other forms of air pollution.
- Willingness to travel - locally, out-of-province, and for CAT response when needed

**Salary and Benefits**:

- The contractual employee will be compensated at a rate of $100-130 per hour.
