Seasonal Student Nursery Worker

Our nursery has been independently owned and operated for more than 30 years. We are committed to growing and offering high-quality plant material, and delivering premier customer service to our wholesale and retail customers. **Responsibilities**:

- Maintenance of plant material (plants, seedlings, flowers, trees), including potting, growth, cultivation, harvesting, irrigation, propagation, fertilization, checking for insect activity, disease and weed outbreaks, as well as inventory control / restocking
- General Crop, Greenhouse, Holding area merchandising and maintenance
- Product truck loading and off-loading
- Ongoing nursery work, as directed by Operations
- Support team members

**Qualifications**:

- Punctual and dependable
- Flexibility with work (shifting priorities) as well as work schedule - able to work extended hours as required, including weekend and holiday availability (as seasonal peaks require)
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Positive attitude and able to work well in a team environment
- Professional and hardworking; strong work ethic
- Attention to detail
- Initiative and able to work independently
- Able to handle changes in temperature and humidity
- Handle repetitive tasks such as bending, sitting, crouching, and standing for long periods of time
- Knowledge of various plants and plant names an asset, but not a must.

Contract length: 5 months

**Salary**: $15.00-$19.74 per hour
