**Assessor/Coordinator**:
**Primary Purpose**:Assessment, brief intervention and coordination of students seeking mental health services within the Student Wellness Centre (SWC). The intake counsellor will work with students to determine the type of service needed using a rapid access stepped collaborative care model. Experience in mental health services is required to support, collaborate, assess and link clients to resources and services.

**Nature of Work**:Under the clinical supervision of the SWC Counselling Leader and** r**eporting to the Director of the Student Wellness Centre, the assessor/coordinator will work collaboratively with students, members of the counselling team and the Student Wellness Centre to link students to the right services at the right time. They will also work with campus-based student affairs coordinators and community-based stakeholders to support a coordinated approach to access and service delivery. This position supports and promotes academic, social, physical, spiritual, cultural, emotional and mental wellness of students, connecting them to on campus and community resources.

The assessor/coordinator is an essential front-line service provider for the Student Wellness Centre. The majority of work will be on campus and in person with students.

**Accountabilities**:

- ** **Provides student-centred assessment and coordination of mental health and addiction services within the Student Wellness Center
- Provides brief interventions such as action planning, single session counselling, crisis intervention and linking to health and community resources.
- Works collaboratively with the Student Wellness Centre staff, USask student services and other campus partners.
- Facilitates short term psychoeducational groups, presentations and/or workshops for the campus community.
- Educates and empowers students to access and navigate supports and services on campus and in the community.
- Follows documentation standards within the Student Wellness Centre’s Electronic Medical Record (MedAccess).
- Maintain and update information such as client volumes, referrals and requests for service.
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of processes ensuring services to meet professional and clinical standards and participates in regular clinical supervision.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Leader and Director.

**Qualifications**

**Education**:A bachelor’s degree in social work is required**. **A master’s degree is preferred. Will consider a degree in mental health nursing or other human service disciplines with experience coordinating and assessing mental health services.

**Experience**: A minimum of 5 years’ of clinically supervised experience in assessing and coordinating, counselling and mental health services is required. Experience working within a medium to large organization, providing mental health care collaboratively with community partners and multi-disciplinary teams is an asset.

Must have the following demonstrated knowledge: clinical mental health and addiction theory; trauma-informed practice, crisis counselling and clinical case management; developmental theory with specialized understanding of emerging adulthood; and knowledge of community programs and services.

**Skills**:

- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to use clinical judgement to make independent decisions regarding client care;
- Strong organizational and time management skills are essential in working in this high volume environment;
- Attention to detail; ability to work in a high stress environment; ability to take initiative and work independently with mínimal supervision;
- a proven ability to work collaboratively with others in an interdisciplinary team environment;
- ability to set priorities and follow through on accountabilities;
- Commitment to serving the needs of a diverse student population. Demonstrated ability to provide services that are responsive and sensitive to the needs of specific populations including Indigenous students, international students, graduate students, racialized students, students with disabilities and LGBTQ2S+ students.
- ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality is essential.
