Sanitation Manager

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Sanitation Manager will ensure that the correct procedures and compliance for cleaning of the Brockville plant are in place. S/he will evaluate current processes and actual practices while managing strategies that improve production reliability. The Sanitation Manager will establish deep cleaning procedures in partnership with production, maintenance and the Continuous Improvement Sanitation Coordinator to ensure machine internals and pre-set up processes exist. This leader is on the core team responsible for sanitary design of new equipment. The Sanitation Manager will oversee the daily operations and efficiencies of the sanitation team, inclusive of time management, discipline, and audits. S/he oversees sanitation function across the site to ensure compliance with all quality management programs and food safety systems, such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's). S/he is responsible for sanitation staff oversight to meet BRC level of cleanliness and requirements.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures safety in cleaning including validation of chemical protocols and approaches; enforces and promotes safety standards;
- Partnership with leaders from maintenance, quality, health, and manufacturing;
- Manages the budget related to the health of the plant, plant sanitation and ensures the allocation of resources;
- Establishes procedures and strategies to drive consistent results from facility sanitation activities of equipment and in all production areas, equipment, food contact surfaces and exterior of the facility;
- Manages schedule of staff hours (various shifts) and sanitation work plans;
- Optimizes the time and resources necessary to accomplish effective cleaning protocols;
- Reports all safety issues and 6S discrepancies to the accountable leader;
- Establishes team member training guidelines and procedures - ensures training program is robust;
- Ensures SSOP requirements are used and maintained;
- Oversee the quality of work performed by the sanitation shifts, and analyzes production downtime to address sanitation gaps;
- Establishes cleaning inspection protocols to ensure leadership goals and quality standards are maintained;
- Establish procedures and strategies to achieve consistent results from equipment and facility sanitation activities;
- Act as a leader in the optimization and improvement of Leclerc's processes for the different equipment ;
- Identify new opportunities to improve our equipment and facilities ;
- Maintains control of sanitation inventory;
- Investigates sanitation related accidents in collaboration with the Health and Safety Department
- Participates in plant management team meetings (T2-T3-T4);
- Performs sanitary design for the implementation of new equipment; and
- Participates in the standardization of work methods through Poka and processes at the sanitation level in the Leclerc group in collaboration with the Continuous Improvement Sanitation Coordinator.
- REQUIREMENTS
- College or university education in quality, industrial engineering, operations management or a relevant field;
- Previous manufacturing and/or food production experience is preferred;
- Knowledge of BRC, SQF, GMP and other food safety standard including HACCP or similar food industry regulations desired;
- Knowledge of chemicals used in food plant cleaning and sanitation in addition to practices, procedures and guidelines;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and consistently changing environment;
- Aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving;
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; verbal and written; and
- Ability to inspire and motivate people, specifically mentoring and coaching individuals in identifying short and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support.
