Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Provincial Director Collaborative Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation Patient Services, this position supports the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Team broadly, in research, evaluation and performance/quality measurement initiatives that in turn, support evidence-informed allied health and rehabilitation service delivery across the province. Key activities include conducting research, defining goals and managing project timelines, evaluation planning, synthesizing data, qualitative evaluation, grant reporting, and other program evaluation activities. Current priorities include the Pediatric Rehabilitation grant and the Alberta Surgical Initiative - Prehabilitation Program grant. Please note, due to system limitations, this role differs from the job description listed in the below section. This position is with AHS Provincial Rehabilitation. It is not in the portfolio of Addiction and Mental Health.

Description:
As a Research Officer II, you will be part of the Knowledge, Performance & Integrated Planning that provides support for evidence-informed decision making and accountability in the provincial portfolio of Addiction and Mental Health. The functions of the team include planning, business analysis, data analysis and reporting, research, evaluation and knowledge exchange. Given general direction and scope, you will plan, organize and conduct major provincial projects including setting goals and objectives, defining and managing projects to timelines and budgets, and staffing and supervising junior researchers. You will work collaboratively with key Addiction and Mental Health stakeholders, identifying clear and accomplishable projects and providing support in situations where needs are ambiguous and where conflicting views, goals and priorities are present. Using a collaborative approach, you will plan, conduct, and manage evaluation and performance measurement provincial level projects. Typical steps in these projects include defining and negotiating project scope, reviewing relevant literature, conducting assessments of program evaluability, designing relevant measures and measurement procedures, defining appropriate IT requirements, developing appropriate project plans, conducting/coordinating evaluation research projects, conducting data analyses, report writing, developing implications and recommendations from the research and communicating research results. Using your writing techniques, you will assist in producing reports, papers and related products to inform a range of audiences and a wide variety of stakeholders. In addition, you will translate study results into effective oral and written communication materials.

**Required Qualifications**:
Master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge translation, applied research, evaluation, performance measures and analytics preferably related to allied health/rehabilitation in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. A minimum of 3 years’ experience years in applied research setting with leadership or supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research design and analysis, program evaluation and program development research. Experience in program evaluation and/or performance measurement in healthcare. Experience in reporting, business or project management. Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation and allied health.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
PhD would be an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation topics in one or more of the following substantive areas: health services, economics, rehabilitation, surgical care, sociology, psychology, biology, social work, family studies or child and adolescent development. Demonstrated knowledge of health and/or allied health program design principles and processes. Experience in performance planning and development of policies and procedures.
