Reporting to the Director of Insurance Operations, this position will work in the underwriting department, and will have experience with the full cycle underwriting to manage and execute all underwriting related functions. Experience with Private Auto new business, renewals, and endorsements in both simple as well as complex underwriting policy situations.

**Key responsibilities**
- Execute individual risk selection decisions in accordance with established underwriting authority.
- Develop and maintain a professional relationship with broker partners to enhance understanding of the risk eligibility and to contribute to responsive quality service, problem solving, and risk selection.
- As a risk management expert, support profitable growth through negotiating terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers through the broker telephone and online support.
- Analyze new, modified and renewal business for eligibility by assessing exposures and hazards.
- Support the business development team to develop brokers, including product and system training, and corporate underwriting philosophy, policies and procedures training.
- Ensure that product changes or enhancements are communicated to business development, claims and brokers in a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, developments, and regulatory changes including competitive analysis and information, to ensure all necessary broker systems are updated and current.
- Support development of underwriting guidelines, marketing plans, products, and systems as they relate to insurance underwriting.
- Participate in underwriting and pricing audits as required.
- Claims support - act as a liaison on a consultative basis, to assist and support responds to Claims department on claims referred files and policy assessment.

**Key qualifications**
- 3+ years of relevant underwriting insurance experience, with specific experience in private auto insurance a pre-requisite.
- University degree in a related field is preferred. Enrolled in an insurance and/or risk management program (FCIP, CIP, CAIB, CRM or ARM) is desired;
- General Level 2 Insurance License is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
