- The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.- We are looking for a Legislative Services Advisor who is an excellent and effective communicator - with staff, the public, City Council and outside agencies - having regard for protocol, process, policy and procedure.**Responsibilities**
- Reporting to the Manager, Legislative and Election Services, within the office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, you will be responsible for supervising a small administrative team; coordinating information for Council and members of the public; reviewing draft bylaws for accuracy, formatting and consistency; consolidating bylaws; preparing and publishing legal notices for items such as public hearings and various types of public meetings; communicating with all levels of staff throughout the organization; registering documents in the Land Title Office; attending Council meetings on a regular basis to assist the Corporate Officer and Deputy Corporate Officer; and, acting as the Deputy Corporate Officer in their absence, including taking minutes at Council meetings.**Requirements**:
- You will have completed public administration courses leading up to, or resulting in, a diploma or degree in Business or Public Administration, together with a minimum of 3 years of local government or related experience, or an equivalent of education, training and experience. Familiarity of the functions of a Council or Board, public hearings and the general local election process would be assets. You should also be familiar with applicable legislation
- _e.g._
- Community Charter, Local Government Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Interpretation Act, Local Elections Campaign Financing Act_). Attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to record minutes, together with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and the ability to work within an electronic document management system are essential.**Compensation**
- We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule.**Salary**
- $79,356.00 to $93,348.00 annually- (January 2024 rates)**Hours of Work**
