**Quality Control Technician**

**(Mississauga, ON)**

Under direction of the Quality Control Supervisor, this position will, create and maintain high quality standards in all aspects of daily tasks. To follow Puratos Group quality standards and policies.

**Mandate**
- Responsible for food safety, integrity, legality and quality
- Comply with all local and national food safety and legal requirements
- Perform all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of food safety standards

**Key tasks**:

- Test finished goods, perform analysis, release “in specs” goods, Enter test results in SAP. Positive release of products.
- Test incoming raw materials accordingly with QC procedures.- Check retainer samples for insect activity, control retainer samples, rotate as applicable
- Conduct calibration controls considering all the lab equipment. Execute Glass and Brittle Plastic Audits - Light audits periodically. Monitor water used as ingredient and boiler water. Control of chemical inventory and data.
- Manage non-conformity (Hold), record all ongoing tasks and their completion by updating and filing documentation.- Verifying cleaning procedures (Allergen cleanings) in line. Conduct allergen inspections following Allergen procedure.
- Do in-line inspection on daily basis to monitor process, ingredients, label, and packaging
- Implement the Environmental Program and sampling schedule for microbiological control. Coordinate with external labs sampling analyzing trends periodically. Monitoring cleaning procedures including accredited external laboratories results for microbiology and allergens parameters. Verify with external accredited laboratories microbiological parameters for raw materials, intermediate and final products, analyzing trends periodically.
- Participate in 3rd party food safety audits and ensure all documentation and procedures are up to date and in compliance with BRC standard. Participate in the internal audit program.
- Keep all paperwork in an organized manner and maintain the laboratory in organized and good conditions (5 S).- Support R&D team during production trials.
- Perform root cause analysis related to internal deviations or customer complaints.
- Generate validation reports related to quality and food safety programs.

**Skills, education and experience Requirements**:

- B. SC in Food Sciences or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in lab and/or experience working in food production environment (Bakery industry).
- Experience and familiarizing of using SAP, desirable but not required.
- Understanding experience of testing, micro and environmental program requirements.
- Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Intermediate to advance computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Willing to work morning & afternoon shift.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and team player.
- Capable to organize, plan and execute diligently and independently, without close supervision.
- Results oriented and goals driven individual with attention on the team spirit.
