**Salary**: $45.74 - $45.74/Hour

Language Requirement: Bilingual is an asset

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with some evening and weekend overtime work

Job Reports To: Executive Director of Production

**Key Activities**:
As the Head Carpenter, you will support the Technical Directors in the timely execution of quality scenery for any productions at the NAC. You will be willing to commit to the long-term development of the Carpentry Workshop, and the develop your own technical, leadership, interpersonal and managerial skills. Your team skills are of critical importance in your dealings with artists, clients, Heads of Departments, Productions staff, and other workers.

**Skill Requirements**:
Through knowledge of general scenery construction with broad experience in various build techniques.

Recent and relevant experience as a Scenic Workshop Head or Production Carpenter in a professional theatre environment.

Experience in the direction and supervision of crews.

An ability to read and interpret plans.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with artists, clients, and colleagues.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver multiple concurrent projects within schedule and financial constraints.

Ability to work with artists and clients of varying experience levels.

Must possess valid certification for Forklift Operation, Elevating Work Platforms,, First Aid and Working at Heights.

Metal working skills are an asset.

Experience with automated scenic elements (electric motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics) is an asset.

Completion of a recognized rigging course is an asset.

Working knowledge of AutoCad and VCarve Pro.

Strong working knowledge of both official languages is an asset.
