**About the role**:

The Scrum Master is a key role on one of seven Client Engagement Pods, within the Canadian Marketing team, under the Client Experience Office. Our Client Engagement Pods help our clients achieve financial security and well-being by proactively providing personalized, useful and actionable information. The program is a leading digital client engagement platform that has fuelled many Sun Life Canadian business units.

The Pod (Fire Pod) hosts a talented team of marketers, business and process owners, and change makers. Within Fire Pod, we turn raw ideas into real campaigns using a self-contained, self-governing group of experts who crave results.

The Scrum Master manages a team of 4 direct reports while ensuring the full agile marketing team lives agile values and principles. The responsibilities of this role include clearing obstacles; establishing an environment where the team can be effective; addressing team dynamics; ensuring a good relationship between the team, product owner and delivery as well as external stakeholders; and, protecting the team from outside interruptions and distractions.

The Scrum Master will be accountable for sustaining the transformation of Sun Life’s marketing culture and process through the adoption of agile principles and values; for enabling the Agile Marketing team to maximize campaign quality and velocity; for strategic planning of initiative capacities from the company’s digital marketing strategy portfolio.

**What will you do?**
- ** Support flawless delivery.** Identify opportunities to accelerate and improve marketing processes, outputs, and digital marketing strategy through agile thinking
- ** Embed Agile** **delivery**. Inspire the agile marketing team and stakeholders to embrace essential agile practices such as sprints, stand-ups, backlogs, etc. as well as agile values
- ** Project management, forecast capacity utilization, anticipate and navigate roadblocks.** Drive or support definition of campaign goals, support the creation of client stories, building team backlogs, time-boxing deliverables, and supporting the team in campaign development and testing. Anticipate threats to team progress and engage stakeholders and leadership to address issues. Capture levels of effort, timelines, and resourcing and budgetary requirements of digital strategy portfolio initiatives, e.g., marketing technology POCs and implementations.
- ** Coach and manage**. Coach team to optimize individual and group contributions and maximize campaign ROI. Manage 4 direct reports, support professional development and OKR’s.

**What do you need to succeed?**
- 5+ years’ experience in leading and coaching strong dynamic teams with proven results and deliverables
- 3+ years as part of a high-performance marketing organization (i.e. large consumer brand, cutting-edge advertising agency, leading financial services organization, or marketing/media practice of a top management consulting firm)
- Subject matter expert in agile practices (Scrum framework)
- High level of accountability
- Collaboration, leading through influence, relationship building across diverse groups and teams
- Able to gather and prioritize information for quick, informed decisions
- Direct and supervisory experience spanning ideation through development and execution
- Advocate for using capacity to optimize OKR and customer experience
- Strong negotiation skills and willingness to challenge and be challenged
- Experienced in backlog building, burndown tracking, etc.
- Adept at stakeholder engagement, political consensus-building, and conflict resolution; tireless in placing these skills at the service of her or his teams
- Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven success leading Agile transformations
- Strong analytic and creative thinker
