**SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Corporate Tax Manager, the U.S. Tax Manager is responsible for all U.S. corporate tax compliance and reporting within the Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. (“CanWel”) group of companies. This position will be involved with a variety of tax related tasks and research and assist with corporate financial reporting.

**EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS**
- Responsible for assisting with all U.S. tax matters including data gathering, research and analysis of applicable tax laws, and ensuring company compliance with tax reporting/filing requirements
- Prepare federal, state and local income / franchise tax returns, including quarterly estimated tax payments
- Assist with federal consolidated tax returns (total CanWel U.S. group)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provisions for financial reporting purposes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual tax account reconciliations
- Manage and review tax depreciation schedules for fixed assets
- Assist with tax planning by researching corporate and statutory tax issues
- Keep abreast of current tax laws, regulations and practices, identify changes that impact the business and communicate them to management and applicable personnel
- Assist with sales and use tax, property tax and excise taxes as needed
- Assist with 401K management, Medical Plans management in respect to Form 5500 filings and government surveys as needed
- Assist with tax audits

**Requirements**:
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Minimum of at least 4 years of US tax experience (financial reporting, compliance, audit, planning) or equivalent, with a major public accounting firm or large multi-national company
- Ability to manage time efficiently, and work well under tight reporting deadlines
- Ability to act and operate independently with mínimal daily direction
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Strong verbal, written and communications skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, manage and secure sensitive information
- Industry experience an asset, but not a requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Equivalent
- Advanced degree or certification preferred (i.e. CPA, MST)
