The Museum of Health Care at Kingston is Canada’s premier resource devoted to bringing to life the story of health and health care. **COVID-19 Protocols**: As the Museum resides on KHSC grounds, KHSC policies, including full vaccination requirements and masking at all times while on the premises, are in place. The Museum maintains an extensive Health and Safety plan for in-office protocol, and all staff receive health & safety training as well as COVID-19 protocol training.

**Collections Digital Imaging Projects Technician**

SALARY: $15.75/hr
START / END DATES: May 15 - September 1
WORK HOURS: 7hrs per day, 5 days per week (35hrs/week). May 15 to 29, Monday to Friday. May 29 to September 1, Wednesday to Sunday.

The Collections Digital Imaging Projects Technician will work directly with the extensive collection of medical, pharmaceutical and health care objects and archival documents under the direction and supervision of the Collections Manager.
- Photograph a variety of historical medical and pharmaceutical objects
- Act as stage and technical manager for the new film studio to create several collections based videos and coordinator for the studio for other users
- Research, develop, and create a film studio temporary backdrop appropriate to the topic, set up lighting, and determine supplies required to film short videos. Edit visuals, record voiceover as needed, and add explanatory text as needed, and transcribe for translation into another language and closed captions, completed by others. Then upload videos to the Museum’s YouTube channel.
- Research current professional digital presentations and update an existing two part PowerPoint Presentation into a modern and engaging style. Design and create digital graphics for documents in a Resource package, Fact Sheets, promotional materials, and press release to launch new project; create other graphics as required
- Keep accurate records through completed work logs
- Assist as needed in the presentation of museum public programming and gallery tours that occur during the work term

Required Qualifications
- College or university degree (completed or in-progress), preferably in graphics, photography, communications, media, film, history, museum studies, or a related field.
- Excellent English oral, written, and verbal communications skills
- Ability to perform digital photography in a photo studio set up
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity, such as climbing ladders, lifting, kneeling, standing, or walking for periods of time
- Basic research skills using various sources, both paper-based and electronic
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work effectively with multiple tasks and tight deadlines, and problem solving

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with cataloguing and/or handling artefacts is an asset
- Background or experience in one or more of the following areas: graphics, photography, communications, media, and/or film will be considered an asset
- Enjoy working with lists of numbers, accuracy, and creating order
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Monitor and maintain a safe work area
- Excellent interpersonal skills

**Young Canada Works Eligibility**
- are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
- are legally entitled to work in Canada;
- are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
- will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment;
- have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment; and
- intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment.
