**About the position**

**Kitchen Assistant**
- Responsible for portioning, preparing, and serving all snack items and meals to the children
- Responsible for handling and preparing special meals and snacks for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs - labelled from the Commissary kitchen
- Ensure safe food storage and disposals of all food
- Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation
- Cleaning and sanitizing appliances, utensils, kitchenware, counters, cupboards, & drawers
- Moping and sweeping floors after every meal; removes trash and recyclable materials at the end of each shift
- Required to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events at times

**Breaker**
- Provides nurturing care to young children in a group setting
- Cover breaks for classroom lead teachers
- Works with the team in the classroom to provide excellent supervision and interaction with children at all times including in all classroom, sleep room, outside/walking and playground activities
- Help children learn and grow with our personalized curriculum
- Assist children in activities
- Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the childcare centres

**Specifications**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels with children, parents and co-workers.
- Ability to utilize computer systems for all documentation, reporting, and classroom operations
- Strong collaborator and team player
- Ability to take initiative in and out of the classroom
- Strong problem-solving skills
