**Job Summary**:
The Kinark Outdoor Center (KOC) facilitates a range of outdoor education, therapeutic recreation and experiential adventure programs designed to meet the specific needs of its diverse client population including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. KOC programs include Autism Family Camps, Autism Family Respite, 5-day Autism Summer camp programs throughout July and August. Additional visiting groups include: children’s mental health centers, community living agencies, elementary and secondary schools, and various organizations serving youth, adults and individuals with special needs.

Reporting to the Food Service Coordinator, the Prep Cook/Dishwasher is responsible for cooking, preparing, and serving meals to campers and visitors. In addition, Prep Cook/Dishwasher will be responsible for cleaning dishes and maintaining the kitchen and kitchen equipment.

This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop communication, problem solving and time management skills while working with and supporting a unique client population.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Cooking/serving food for visitors to site. Includes preparing special needs diets for allergies and food restrictions
- Maintain high standard of cleanliness, sanitation and safety
- Assist in washing equipment, pots and utensils, by hand or machine, cleaning and mopping the kitchen, sanitizing counters after meals
- Interacting and communicating with clients including answering questions and building rapport
- Adjust food items to accommodate clients with allergies or specific diet concerns.
- Know and follow Safe Food Handling guidelines.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned by the Food Service Coordinator as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 16 years of age;
- Ability to work with a team and take initiative is essential
- Food Safety Handlers Certification or ability to obtain before start date
- First Aid and CPR C or ability to obtain before start date
- Previous experience working in a food service setting preferred
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
- Proof of Covid-Vaccination status or medical/creed-based exemption

**Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.** Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
