The Rexdale Community Health Centre (RCHC) is a multi-service centre providing primary health care, health promotion and community support services, including settlement and community development activities for families, children, youth, adults and seniors of diverse backgrounds. RCHC is recruiting for a Part Time Kinesiologist to support the work of the Inter-professional Primary Care Team (IPCT).
The IPCT is a is a collaborative initiative dedicated to providing culturally competent, comprehensive, and holistic primary healthcare services to marginalized communities, particularly focusing on the Black, Francophone, and racialized populations in Northwest Toronto. Our team comprises diverse healthcare professionals committed to addressing the social determinants of health and achieving equitable health outcomes for all.
As the Kinesiologist, you will play a role in delivering high-quality, accessible patient-centered primary healthcare services to individuals and families in marginalized communities. Working within our Inter-professional Primary Care Team (IPCT).
The position will involve the delivery of various group exercise programs in the community. The position will also involve the development of pathways/programs to link individuals to ongoing access to exercise programs in the community. You will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, from framework that is trauma-informed, with a focus on anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, discrimination, and oppression.
This position requires a commitment to culturally competent care, collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, and a passion for serving underserved communities.
This role will provide accessible care within Northwest Etobicoke from the Wheels to Wellness bus.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provides comprehensive care to populations facing multiple barriers, ensuring access to those most vulnerable.
- Provide itinerant services working from different locations to create greater access to populations facing barriers to care.
- Work collaboratively within team to develop and implement group-based exercise programs in the community (primarily older adults/seniors).
- Work collaboratively with the team to develop pathways/programs to link individuals to ongoing access to exercise programs in the community.
- In collaboration with the Manager and Director, develop and implement an evaluation for group programs and pathways.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation of group.
- Supports the Centre’s student and volunteer placement programs, and supervises students and volunteers as required.
- Contributes to programs and services cycle of planning and evaluation, and participates in organization-wide planning, committees, and staff meetings as appropriate.
- Maintains and develops professional competence through appropriate continuing education methods.
- Contributes to activities to collect, analyze, and report on data and relevant information, and participates in research when appropriate.
- Safeguards client records, assures confidentiality of client information, and seeks to minimize risk.
- Identifies areas where the development of protocols and procedures is needed to improve client services or to promote more effective staff functioning.
- Contributes to efforts to secure and maximize resources for current and new programs, services, and activities.
- Complies with all relevant organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintains all licenses, certificates, and standards related to the ability to practice as a Kinesiologist in Ontario.
- Respects and values the diversity of communities and individuals.
- Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Complies with all relevant Centre policies, procedures, and protocols;
- Works during both regular and extended hours of operation in locations identified by the Centre;
- Respects and values the diversity of communities and individuals;
- Supports the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the Centre and to ensure that organizational accountability systems are implemented.
**Qualifications**:
- Registered Kinesiologist from College of Kinesiologist of Ontario or other recognized educational institution.
- Registered and in good standing with the Ontario Kinesiologist Association (OKA).
- Experience in program planning, development, monitoring, and evaluation, and working collaboratively with external partners.
- Extensive experience in leading group-based exercise programs, in particular for seniors.
- Experience providing comprehensive care to populations facing multiple barriers and with comorbidities, including mental health and addictions.
- Experience working in a team-based environment, in particular with other rehabilitation professionals.
- Experience working in a primary health care team or community setting is considered an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in current professional best practices.
- GLAD certification is an asset.
