The District of North Vancouver is looking for an adaptable, self-motivated, customer-service oriented individual for a regular full-time position as a Commercial Plans Reviewer/Building Inspector 1.

**In this role, you will**:

- Discuss construction, alteration and repair matters with contractors, engineers, architects, homeowners and the public.
- Interpret requirements; advise on required changes and/or corrections; and determine compliance.
- Have the opportunity to inspect residential, industrial and commercial projects during construction, alteration and repair to determine conformity with established bylaws, acts, codes, standards and regulations.

**The successful applicant will have**:

- Thorough knowledge of building construction practices and methods.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant by-laws, acts, codes, standards and regulations.
- The ability to read and interpret plans and related material to recognize technical requirements and suggest changes.
- The ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- The ability to prepare reports, records and correspondence related to the work.
- The ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS
- You have completed Grade 12 plus an apprenticeship in the carpentry trade or graduation from a post-secondary institution with a diploma in Building Technology and you have sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- You must be a BOABC member in good standing and have achieved a BOABC Level 3 qualification or possess an exempt professional designation.
- A valid BC Driver’s Licence is required.

**Salary**: The pay range for this unionized position is** $44.78-$48.64** per hour based on a 35-hour work week, with a comprehensive benefits plan, 3 weeks of vacation to start, and earned time off opportunities.
