Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
- demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL
- demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities
- knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
- demonstrated experience collaborating with classroom teachers on inclusive lesson design and delivery
- extensive experience in teaching French 10, New Media 10, Literary Studies 10, Creative Writing 12
- demonstrated ability to employ a variety of highly successful instructional strategies to develop the curricular competencies and a deep understanding
- demonstrated desire and ability to collaborate with staff, parents and other professionals to contribute to general school effectiveness and to individual student learning
- demonstrated ability to design lessons with hands-on experiences in collaboration, critical thinking, and communication
- demonstrated ability to design lesson and unit plans to create personalized learning opportunities that are student-centered and flexible, and maintain focus on literacy skills, while supporting deeper learning
- demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with students
- demonstrated ability and knowledge of strategies necessary to motivate students to achieve at a high level
- knowledgeable about and demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know
- demonstrated ability to involve parents and the community to support and expand student learning
