The Cafeteria Cashier’s primary role is to accurately take food orders and expediate their delivery.
**Responsibilities**
- Greet customers/guests when entering or leaving the venue, always thanking them for their business
- Handle cash, debit and credit card transactions accurately for both external and internal customers
- Issue correct change from large bills, receipts, and accurate refunds when necessary
- Count float/money at beginning of shift ensuring correct amount
- Perform restocking duties periodically throughout shift, organizing disheveled racks/shelves and keep
store aisles free and clear of extra stock, boxes, ladders, and debris if left unattended.
Check expiry dates on product consistently to ensure freshness.
- Dust shelves and product as needed
- Follow procedures for closing at the end of shift, removing garbage, turning off any appliances
- Make suggestions when appropriate
- Resolve customer complaints and if unable to do so, seek your supervisor or manager. Listen carefully to customer before replying.
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas, including floors, ensuring garbage, food and drink spills are wiped.
- Accountable for responsibly selling alcoholic beverages; requesting ID and refusing service to customers that are inebriated.
- Responsible for helping with monthly and end of season inventories
- Knowledgeable of Banff Park and general Alberta geography, providing customers with directions or maps where necessary
- Must be familiar with The Crossing services, venues, hours of operation, etc. (Posted on all entry doors)
- Safe food handling procedures followed when serving/selling food items
- Be comfortable with opening and closing procedures
- Some guides, bus drivers, etc. may receive special pricing. Ensure you are aware of which companies receive discounts. Ask your manager if this point has never been discussed.
**Skills/Qualifications**
- Excellent customer service skills
- Fluent English skills (oral, written and read)
- Grade 12 graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods
- Works well under pressure
- A team player or work well independently
- Willing to work shift work, weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- Previous retail experience preferred but not necessary
**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 44 per week
