Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handling Battery Technician to join our team and pioneer our expansion in the Ontario market, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service. If you’re passionate about driving growth and putting customers first, we’d love to hear from you As a Battery Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing industrial batteries used in material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric vehicles. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of our battery-powered machinery.
**Responsibilities**:
- Perform routine inspections of batteries to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.
- Monitor battery charging cycles, electrolyte levels, and cell voltages.
- Clean and maintain battery terminals, connectors, and casings.
- Replace damaged or worn-out components as needed.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot battery-related issues, including capacity loss, cell imbalance, and charging problems.
- Repair or replace defective cells, connectors, and wiring.
- Ensure proper alignment and installation of batteries in material handling equipment.
- Conduct load testing and capacity checks to assess battery performance.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend battery lifespan.
- Optimize battery charging parameters for maximum efficiency.
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling batteries, including proper PPE usage.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., sulfuric acid).
- Follow industry standards and regulations related to battery handling and storage.
- Maintain accurate records of battery maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
- Generate reports on battery performance, failures, and trends.
- Collaborate with supervisors and management to recommend improvements.
**Qualifications**:
**Experience**
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with industrial batteries.
- Familiarity with battery testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
**Technical Skills**
- Proficiency in battery maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of battery chemistry, charging cycles, and safety precautions.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
**Certifications**
- Certification in battery maintenance or related field is a plus.
**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to lift heavy batteries (up to 50 lbs) and work in various environmental conditions (both indoors and outdoors).
**Attention to Detail**
- Thoroughness in inspecting and documenting battery conditions.
- Commitment to safety protocols and compliance.
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
**Salary**: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
