The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services that enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the larger community.

The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full-time term position of Settlement Case Worker. The start date for this position is August 15,2023 to February 2 ,2024. Orientation Services for Newcomers (OSN) works in coordination with other IRCC-funded and other community programs. OSN provides newcomers with information, orientation, case planning, and referral and support services to foster their adaptation and integration Life skill is provided to newcomers with high and complex needs.

Accessing OSN services will help newcomers meet their everyday settlement needs and goals; assist them in better understanding life in Canada; learn how to access IRCC-funded programs and wider community services, and adapt and integrate into the community.

**Desired **qualifications/education**:
Post-Secondary education and 2 to 3 years of related work experience are position requirements. Additional requirements include a criminal record check, a clean Child Abuse Registry record, a valid class 5 driver's license, and a clean driver abstract.

**Job **Description**:

- Deliver settlement services online, in person and in group
- Assist newcomers to better understand the Canadian systems through orientation, informational meetings and workshops, and individual information and referral sessions;
- Organize and deliver orientation and information sessions to newcomers.
- Provide general information, guidance, and referrals to assist families during the settlement and integration process.
- Research information and services /programs that are relevant for the settlement of newcomers;
- Provide individuals and families with culturally sensitive Para-professional Solution Focused Counseling;
- Facilitate clients' access to appropriate services and programs by providing referrals to services and/or resources within the agency;
- Provide newcomers with useful and detailed information and guidance to help them navigate through processes in a variety of service areas
- Encourage successful settlement and healthy positive lifestyle adaptations through the provision of orientation information including one-on-one hands-on orientation and regularly scheduled educational sessions;
- Promote the role of the Orientation Services for Newcomers Program
- Provide/facilitate Citizenship education to newcomers.
- Promote culturally sensitive links between community agencies and newcomer families
- Consult with community agencies on settlement and cultural issues affecting immigrant /refugee families;
- Conduct satisfaction surveys with immigrants and refugees in order to determine their satisfaction with the services provided. This should be done throughout the year;
- Facilitate access to services and resources where there are barriers due to language, gender, age, culture, and race by providing support services such as interpretation/translation and transportation Clarifying information;
- Maintain regular contact with clients by phone or through face-to-face meetings to provide them with relevant information or review their progress.
- Assist other service providers to better serve immigrant and refugee families;
- Make contact on behalf of families to obtain/process relevant information/referral;
- Prepare monthly and other reports as required by funding agreements in accordance with RODS policies and procedures.
- Input relevant program data into RODS databases
- Participate in the distribution, collection, and analysis of participant surveys and other evaluation methods

**Competencies**:

- Ability to deliver services online, in person and in group setting
- Working knowledge of online platforms such as Teams, Zoom, YouTube, Face book etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and team environment.
- Work experience in a client-orientated position or related field targeting immigrant and refugee families
- Knowledge of settlement-related issues facing immigrants and refugee youth, children and families
- Broad knowledge of local community resources that can assist newcomer youth, children, and families with their settlement needs
- Broad knowledge of coordinating large-scale group events and sessions and coordinating with external agencies to deliver sessions.
- Solid paraprofessional counseling and group facilitation skills. Familiar with casework process, including intake procedures, needs assessment, goal planning, referrals, case management, documentation, and follow-ups.
