Youth Engagement Coordinator

The Youth Engagement Coordinator works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of youth in a holistic manner and ensures youth have a voice in the programming that affects young people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness..
Job Responsibilities ;
- Developing and implementing creative strategies for engaging youth with lived experience.
- Develops opportunities for Youth Leadership within 360°kids.
- Facilitates training and workshops for young leaders.
- Assists youth to develop leadership skills and provide opportunities to practice the skills learned.
- Support the work of the Youth Council for York Region Youth Strategy
- Provides informal counselling and help clients in accessing additional resources and supports when necessary.
- Network, identify and build partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Advocates with outside agencies to secure leadership opportunities that value youth insight and voice.
- Follows up with and connects with other agencies that support youth.
- Represents 360°kids and program as required with various segments of the community including schools, Children’s Aid Society, partner agency, clients, and parents.
- In collaboration with the Senior Manager of Community supports and COO creates, and implements approved strategies and plans that will result in the achievement of the program’s goals and objectives.
- Report on a regular basis to the Senior Manager of Community Supports regarding issues of need and/or concern. In the event of a crisis or critical incident, immediately reports to appropriate level.
- Attends training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the role.

**Education & Skills Required**:

- Child and Youth worker diploma or degree in social work, psychology or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience required working with at risk youth and/or street involved people.
- Experience with MS Office, with the ability to prepare, and write reports and maintain same.
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.
- Current first aid/CPR certification.
- Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Excellent assessment skills with experience responding to situations based on available information.
- Possesses strong personal ethics and integrity, as well as, exceptional interpersonal skills, including influencing, consensus/team building, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, management, leadership, motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, and empowerment.
- Sound judgment, decision making, and problem-solving ability with the willingness to stand behind and take responsibility for decisions and actions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies and the public.
- Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff, the public, and youth
