Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a Laboratory technician in Nursing.

Reporting to the Academic Dean, the incumbent will assist the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of student learning in the clinical laboratory.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Use of the Laboratory and Equipment
1. Ensure the laboratory equipment and material is ready to be used by students and teachers and ensure that students can effectively perform clinical skills.
2. Ensure the laboratory equipment remains in optimal condition and is stored adequately.
Support and Administrative Work
3. Ensure the students receive the correct documents to prepare and/or perform clinical skills and have access to the laboratory equipment for practice and ensure the appropriate equipment is available for clinical laboratory sessions.
4. Collaborate with the Department Coordinators in the planning and management of the department budget and ensure the laboratory inventory is well managed to avoid a shortage of supplies.
5. Ensure that the department has current information related to laboratory equipment and clinical protocols and participate in the selection of equipment and material.
6. Participate in the choice of specialized devices, laboratory apparatus, tools, machines and instruments, assembles them, and makes sure they work properly and are rationally utilized and adapts them to particular needs.
7. Maintain student nursing records such as immunization and OIIQ permits.
8. Maintain his/her knowledge base in regard to regulatory standards, best practices - evidence-based information with respect to clinical technology-materials, care procedures, etc.
Health, safety and infection control standards
9. Maintain the Nursing laboratories in working and safe condition. Ensure safety regulations and infection control standards are maintained and respected by all users of laboratory equipment and facilities.

10. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during the use, handling and storage of the material.
Perform other related duties requested by the Nursing teachers or his or her supervisor.

**Requirements**:
Possess a diploma of college studies (DEC) in Nursing, or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmiers et infimières du Québec (OIIQ).

Must be able to communicate fluently in English and French, both oral and written.

Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite(intermediate level)

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be self-disciplined in his or her work.

**Salary Scale**: $24.21 - $32.32

**Anticipated Start Date**: 2023-06-05
