SUPPLY LINC CNC STAFF

This position reports to the Principal of Durham Continuing Education and takes direction from the CNC Supervisor/Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing onsite care for children of parents who are attending Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada classes.

**Major Duties**:
Providing the best possible environment & services for newcomer children and families.

Assists with the set-up and clean-up of the childcare room.

Demonstrate and practice a good understanding of children’s growth and development.

Be responsive to diverse cultural heritages, values and individual experiences.

Assumes responsibility for professional growth.

Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians.

Maintain safety and security of all children in the program.

Work collaboratively with CNC staff in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, with emphasis on English Language development.

Assist in the maintenance of the learning environment.

Keep classroom, program equipment and toys clean, sanitized and safe and maintain program standard and requirements.

Maintain communication with parents/guardians with regards to child's progress in the program.

Maintain open dialogue with the CNC Supervisor regarding the program activities, and any child concerns on an ongoing basis

Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
Early Childhood Educator diploma is an asset.

Membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators is an asset.

At least 1 yr of childcare experience, or education equivalent to one year’s experience.

Valid CPR & First Aid certification.

Must speak English at the equivalent of LINC Benchmark 4 or higher

Must have up to date immunization and current TB test

Ability to speak another language is considered an asset.
