**DRAFTER / /PROJECT ESTIMATOR**

Reporting directly to the Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that drafting (design) drawings and estimates are created in accordance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards. This position also produces estimates, quotes and scope changes, and drafts the Job to be completed within the Plant.

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**:
The scope of work for this position includes, but is not limited to;
- Draft project drawings.
- Prepare(design) fabrication and erection drawings for all projects using AutoCAD and/or other drafting software as required from client isometrics, plan layouts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data ensuring building compliance.
- Ensure all documents and data are filed and entered appropriately in tracking system.
- Check and verify client drawings conform to specifications and design data before being submitted to the plant to be built.
- Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing.
- Perform quantity take-off from tender drawings.
- Obtain pricing from suppliers/subcontractors and incorporate into estimate as needed.
- Accurately create cost estimates of labour, subcontractors, equipment and materials for supply and installation if required.
- Assist with prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required: creation/ submission/negotiation.
- Price Change Orders as needed.
- Monitor weekly performance.
- Understand and assist in evaluating Project Risks.
- Assist in dealing with client concerns and changes.
- Open work orders once purchase orders have been received.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork with other areas of LA.
- Perform Project Co-ordinator duties.
- Work closely with 3rd party engineer.
- Work with other areas of LA to develop new initiatives and better workflow and client service.
- Work in the Plant as the need requires.
- Contribute to, and promote ideas for, improving operations and processes, particularly as they relate to your area of work.
- Keep aware of changing technology and processes.
- Implement new techniques that will enhance the drafting and programming processes.

**Job Skills, Knowledge and Requirements**:

- Technical college diploma in drafting technology or equivalent combination of education and related experience including 3D modelling.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineer role.
- Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to work in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of construction drawing.
- Knowledge of Contract drawings and specifications.
- A basic understanding of Construction law and Contract administration.
- Extensive experience using AutoCAD with 3D capabilities.
- Ability to willingly accept and participate in change.
- Ability to adapt and successfully use changing technology.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of Plant processes and procedures.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to quickly resolve issues.
- Interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.
- Organizational skills to manage one’s own work.
- CNC Machine programming skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with staff with tact and diplomacy.

**Work environment & expectations**:

- Works in office
- May have to travel to client job site.
- Must be trained in all OHS.
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
