Crematorium Operator

Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel & Crematorium is looking for a reliable, permanent, part-time crematorium operator to join us. The applicant must have a passion for helping others in times of need and uphold their responsibilities with the utmost dignity and integrity.

We offer a welcoming and supportive work environment, while maintaining a professional and caring atmosphere. The hours of this position are Saturdays 8:30-4:30pm. 8 hours per week at $18.00/hour. Possibility of extra hours if/when vacation relief is required.

The applicant will properly receive, cremate and process human remains and ensure cremated remains are returned to the authorized individual according to company procedures and applicable regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Movement of the decedent in a respectful and dignified manner for transfer or cremation
- Assisting with funeral administrative and preparation tasks
- Ensures all documentation and identification of the decedent is accurate and complete
- Completes any required or necessary documents regarding the cremation process
- Adheres to all professional, municipal, provincial and federal licensing authority regulations pertaining to the cremation and handling of human remains
- Maintaining a safe, tidy and organized work space
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures

Education & Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid BC driver’s license with clean drivers abstract

Required Skills & Abilities:

- Efficient in time management with ability to multitask, individually and part of a team
- Required computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good organization skills with a strong attention to detail
- Must be physically fit, able to lift/transport a minimum of 75lbs
