Calgary, Canada Women in Need Society Full time

The Assistant Manager-in-Training is responsible for leading and motivating Store Associates to ensure the productivity guidelines and standards are achieved on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Store Manager, this position is responsible for supervising the daily work of the team, including sorting donations, inventory rotation, customer service, cash procedures at POS, administration, building relationships with donors and volunteers. This hands-on position trains and supervises staff and is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment.

**Here's What You’ll Get to Do**:

- Supervisory, Team-building and Leadership_
- Foster a positive workplace and team environment through open communication
- Organize and lead the staff meetings, communicate information and daily goals to the team
- Supervise and motivate staff to perform their best
- Provide on-going coaching, training and support for new and existing team members
- Provide leadership through appropriate behaviours, modelling WINS Respectful Workplace policy
- Respect and comply with WINS policies and procedures, ensure staff comply with WINS policies
- Maintain confidential information relevant to the organization, store operations, and the team
- Use appropriate discipline when required, per WINS’ policies
- Provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment for WINS employees and clients
- Build awareness of WINS with positive relationships with clients, donors and volunteers
- Act as a representative for the store and set an example for staff
- Operations_
- Assist Store Manager in planning, implementing strategies to attract customers, donors, volunteers
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the Store is organized, functional and presentable
- Operate Store in an efficient and effective manner to maximize the sorting of donated items
- Monitor and maintain Store inventory to ensure orders are submitted/picked on a daily basis
- Ensure employee/customer/donor/volunteer inquiries and/or concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
- Administration_
- Track the progress of weekly, monthly and yearly objectives of the team
- Monitor operating costs, budget and resources for the Store
- Ensure department schedules align with productivity guidelines and standards
- Complete bi-weekly schedules for Store Associates and post in a timely manner
- Ensure timesheets are completed and submitted to Payroll per bi-weekly payroll schedule
- Health and Safety_
- Participate as a member of the Health & Safety Committee
- Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, donors, customers and volunteers
- Ensure donations and garbage left outside of premises are picked up on a daily basis
- Ensure loss prevention processes and policies are adhered to
- Report any workplace incidents and complete online WCB injury reports in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned

Here’s What You’ll Need*
- Ability to lead, motivate and supervise staff
- Strong communication, interpersonal and coaching skills
- Must have proficient working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (entire shift)
- Must be physically fit with the ability to lift 50 lbs individually or 100 lbs as a member of a team
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deliverable deadline on a daily basis
