Peer Support Worker - Early Psychosis Intervention (4 Month Part-time Contract)

**The Role and Opportunity**:
The Canadian Mental Health Association is looking for a Peer Support Worker for the Early Psychosis Intervention program. Early Psychosis Intervention services are provided to young adults aged 16-34 who have experienced a first episode of psychosis and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience as a consumer of Mental Health Services is essential, as well as a willingness to share experience
- Minimum community college diploma in social services
- Peer certification is an asset
- Experience working in team environments
- Basic counseling and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to work from a recovery perspective
- Fluency in a second language and experience working with diverse communities

SKILLS YOU BRING
- Provide community support to clients including skill teaching, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, health monitoring and linking to resources
- Conduct assessment and assist clients to develop goals for recovery using one-to-one and group sessions
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team as part of the Coordinated Specialty Care for Psychosis Model to build a client care plan and provide the peer expertise for client care
- Primary case management work including assessment and service planning
- Liaise with community providers and family members
- Referrals and linkages to community resources and groups that support recovery goals
- Facilitate client empowerment and recovery
- Experience with addictions, forensics and dual diagnosis is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset
- Ability to work with diverse communities
- Ability to work from an anti-oppressive framework

**Hourly Range: $29.74 - $34.47 + 4% in lieu of vacation**

**Hours: 21 hours per week**
