**FINANCIAL ANALYST**

**Finance Permanent, full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly; days**

***: The Financial Analyst is a support to the Director of Finance by overseeing the accuracy of payables, receivables, and payroll, in preparing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial statements, budgets and preparing for the annual audit.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**: Full-time, working mostly business hours Monday through Friday. May be required to work after hours to meet deadlines. Sitting for long periods of time in an office environment.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Reviews accounting functions including accounts receivables, payables, payroll, etc., to ensure accuracy of revenue and expenses.
- Assists the Director of Finance in the development of the annual budgets and cashflow forecasts.
- Assists with the preparation of monthly/yearly financial statements by preparing account reconciliations and adjusting

Journal entries as well as investigate and follow-up on discrepancies.
- Ensure current internal controls are followed and offer recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Ensures that cash position is sufficient to settle payroll and other debts.
- Ensure that regulatory reporting for payroll and GST are submitted on a timely basis.
- Practices discretion to maintain high-level confidentiality.
- Assist with analysis and organization of information and assist with preparation of reports.
- Notifies the Director of Finance of any anomalies or problems, as necessary, and proposes changes or improvements.
- Prepares adhoc reports as requested.
- Assist with preparation for annual audit.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance.
- Working towards Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum five years of general accounting experience. Experience in not-for-profit accounting is preferred.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software that requires batch processing.
- Experience with reconciliations of general ledger accounts
- Proficient in preparing adjusting general journal entries with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated discretion with highly confidential information.
- Exceptional time-management skills, with the ability to autonomously prioritize tasks.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks.
- Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks.

Salary Range: A7 $22.19 - $27.00
