**Job Duties**

As a gardening crew member, you’ll take part in completing a diversity of tasks throughout the working season. There will also be opportunities to gain more specialized skills, such as basic topiary practices or pest management.

General tasks will include:

- Spring and fall cleanup of gardens
- Planting shrubs, perennials, and annuals in new and existing gardens
- Maintaining flowerbeds: weeding, cultivating, edging, and deadheading
- Pruning shrubs
- Fertilizing and watering
- Winterizing gardens
- Using gardening and power tools (backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, etc.)

**Requirements**:

- Steel-toed safety shoes - All other mandatory PPE is provided
- Willingness to work in a variety of weather
- Ability to lift 30lbs
- Eligible to work in Canada

**Details**

The workday starts at 7 am when you join you're supervisor in a company vehicle. The day ends when you're dropped off between 4:00 - 4:30 pm. The meeting spot is the same day to day, but the location will vary depending on you're assigned crew. Free parking and transit routes are available for all meeting spots.

A typical work week would be Monday to Friday. During our peak seasons (spring and fall), workdays missed due to poor weather will be rescheduled for Saturday.

**Hours Per Week**: 35 - 45 hours (averaging +/- 40)

**Start/End Dates**: As soon as possible until December 1st (weather-dependent).

**Working in a safe, supportive environment**

- Sponsorship and financial support to continue your education with the Horticulture Apprenticeship Program through Algonquin College.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
