Hamilton, Canada Cardinal Couriers Ltd. Full time

Cardinal Couriers is looking for experienced and motivated DZ drivers to join our team.

The Utility (UC) Driver will make deliveries and pick-ups on a route nightly, being a Utility driver means your run might change daily, or weekly as you will be coverage for many different areas.

We are looking for the best when we hire our U/C drivers, as you will be learning the ins and outs of each of our customers. Our UC drivers get to know multiple routes and areas. As such, this role is a critical member of our team.

You need to be able to adapt to change and be flexible in every area and shift, an experienced DZ driver, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

At Cardinal, we specialize in making pre-8-am deliveries. Customers depend on us so when they start their days, the product they need is there and waiting for them in the vault or on their dock.

As a UC Driver you will be responsible for ensuring the provided company vehicle is loaded in the most efficient manner to ensure all deliveries are completed by 8am. As a UC driver your days may vary, you may be driving or assisting another driver with his route for the night.

This is a physically demanding, fast-paced environment you will need to lift, carry, and scan freight on a regular basis. You will have a pump truck present on your truck. Many of our deliveries are un-skidded packages that will need to be taken out of the truck and put into a vault or on the dock of a customer’s location.
- **Responsibilities and Duties**:_
- Loading a company vehicle to efficiently complete your route in a timely manner and ensuring our Pre 8:00am promise is made to our customers.
- Hand bombing and use of a pump truck to complete deliveries at customer locations.
- Completing pick up and deliveries, at time sensitive locations.
- Being involved in the sortation process, when offloading trailers freight is manually sorted on the conveyor system to be loaded by route specific.
- Complete pre
- and post-trip vehicle inspections and operate company equipment safely. Reporting any defects to your direct supervisor.
- Daily submission and completion of all required documentation in an accurate manner, to be submitted to Night Supervisor and/or Operations Manager as soon as possible.
- PPE is mandatory, you will be required to wear a safety vest and steel toe boots.
- Being professional with coworkers and customers.
- Scanning all freight for deliveries, pick-ups and when loading your run.

- DZ License: 2 (required)
- Minimum 2-3 years of commercial driving experience
- Clean driver abstracts and CVOR report.
- Valid Commercial driver’s license
- Have previous warehouse shipping/receiving experience.
- Perform responsibilities safely, in accordance with company polices.
- Independent and self-starter
- Exceptional communication and multi-tasking skills
- Comfortable meeting deadlines
- Comfortable and capable to lift up to 70 lbs.
