Maintenance Patroller

40 hours per week, 10:00 pm - 6:30 am, includes Saturdays and Sundays
The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a Maintenance Patroller to join our team for the winter season.

Reporting to Supervisor, Operations - Roads, this position provides frontline, weather monitoring, road patrolling, inspection, support and resolution to requests for service as it relates to Provincial Maintenance Standards, after hours calls and right-of-way maintenance processes & procedures. This includes proper, accurate and complete documentation there of (electronic and/or paper as required).
**How you contribute to our organization**:
- Under direction of the Supervisor, coordinates and conducts maintenance standards patrols in line with applicable regulation to ensure that patrols are completed as prescribed.
- Conduct weather monitoring, winter patrols, and documents as per applicable regulation.
- Take appropriate actions as required including calling in staff and outside contractors as needed.
- Record, document deficiencies in, roadways, sidewalk, curb, boulevards, streetlights, signals, and all other Town owned infrastructure within the right-of-way and create Service requests or work orders for correction of deficiencies.
- Respond to afterhours calls regarding urgent matters and provide first response; dispatches crews as required.
- Performs minor deficiency repairs when required such as pot-hole filling, sidewalk ramping, collection of debris, removal of animals from roadway, temporary sign replacement, etc.
- Ability to perform winter maintenance activities when required, including operating salter/sander/plows, sidewalk units, loaders, etc.
- Work in compliance with Book 7 and traffic control and protection plans.
**What you bring to the team**:
- Requires successful completion of high school diploma.
- Must have a Class G (or higher) driver’s license in good standing. Class D Z preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in Public Works required. Winter Patrol experience is an asset.
- Plow truck and equipment experience preferred.
- Defensive driving or Winter driving courses preferred.
- Must demonstrate sound knowledge of maintenance and construction practices as well as construction equipment and vehicles. T.J. Mahoney Construction and Maintenance modules and Snow School from the OGRA Roads School courses would be an asset.
- Computer skills required - Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, internet research. High proficiency required for word processing and spreadsheets entry and analysis. Must have ability to manipulate data entries in various spreadsheets and workbooks to produce accurate and ongoing reports.
**Pay Rate**: $28.47 - $33.49, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
**Hours**: 40 hours per week, 10:00 pm - 6:30 am, includes Saturdays and Sundays
**Location**: Depot 1 - 6375 14th Line, Alliston
**Start Date**: October 28, 2024
