**Volunteer Program Coordinator**

(12-month contract until June 30, 2024)

**Responsibilities**:
**Volunteer Recruitment, Management, Engagement, and Retention**
- Recruitment of volunteers for community and in-house hospice programs
- Responsible for onboarding, screening, training and orientation process for new volunteers and ongoing training & development to existing volunteers
- Coordinates and provides direct supervision of volunteers onsite and offsite when applicable
- Provides oversight and administrative support to volunteer-led projects and programs
- Provides coaching and mentoring support to volunteers
- Evaluates and reports on volunteer program and its impact on all stakeholders
- Volunteer recognition and retention including coordinating the annual volunteer appreciation event, as well as other recognition initiatives
- Manages tracking and statistics, such as volunteer hours
- Develops appropriate schedules to ensure volunteer services are delegated according to workflow and need
- Provides ongoing feedback and conducts volunteer role evaluations
- Maintains complete and accurate documentation records in compliance with provincial regulations, legislation and health policies

**Volunteer Program Development**
- Develops, implements, reviews, evaluates and updates volunteer processes, procedures and supporting documents, such as a volunteer handbook, training and promotional videos, incident reporting processes and other similar items
- Creates annual volunteer recruitment, recognition and engagement plans
- Develops standardized documentation and record management practices

**Community Relations**
- Writes and distributes a monthly volunteer e-newsletter sharing upcoming events and fostering engagement amongst the team
- Working with the Community Engagement Coordinator, promotes volunteer led community programs as well as volunteer opportunities
- Promotes volunteer opportunities at Huron Shores Hospice while in the community, connecting with key community partners, presenting to community groups and attending relevant public community events
- Identifies and shares stories that show the impact of our mission
- Participates in regional and provincial volunteer related groups

**Other Duties**
- Assist the Executive Director with other duties as assigned

**Requirements and Knowledge**
- Minimum 2-3 years of related experience in community and health-based care
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Health/Social Science discipline or the equivalent combination of qualifications/education
- Experience in volunteer administration an asset.
- Experience or understanding of the not-for-profit healthcare environment is an asset
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- People person personality with excellent public speaking skills in both formal and informal settings
- Advanced level of knowledge of general office procedures, efficient computer skills, file management
- Excellent computer expertise including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and mail merge
- Self-starter and is able to function as part of a team
- Positive and compassionate approach to client service and a demonstrated capacity for empathy
- A passion for hospice palliative care and helping those in need
- Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance

**Work Location**: Huron Shores Hospice is located in Tiverton, Ontario. Work from home is acceptable for some of tasks; requirement to be on site for volunteer management, events and meetings/training.

**Contract Details**: This is an approximate 12-month contract position until June 30, 2024.

**Standard Work Week**: 30 hours/week (Monday to Friday) with flexible working hours based on requirements of the position; evenings and weekends where necessary.

**Compensation**: $24.70 per hour
