Maple Leaf Metals is an Edmonton-based metal recycling operation that purchases all types of metal scrap for processing, packaging, and resale. Functions include heavy machinery operation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, sorting of scrap, and processing of the material.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Provide guidance to leadership and working teams to develop their essential safety skills

2. Develop and implement HSE plans

3. Carry out incident investigations, develop and implement corrective actions

4. Provide support on effective use of risk management tools for the purposes of developing risk assessments

5. Develop and implement safe work practices and procedures

6. Challenge worker’s behaviour when necessary, support the safety observation process, and assist with the development of pre-job hazard assessments

7. Deliver the safety orientation and related trainings to new employees, contractors, production teams and visitors

8. Oversee and administer internal HSE system

**Qualifications** **and Experience**:
1. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational health & safety certificate or a Bachelors Degree in a related field with a CRST, CRSP or NCSO qualification

2. 2-7 years of experience in a HSE or comparable role

3. Familiar with Alberta OH&S legislation

4. Experience with WCB claim management, ISNET & Avetta

5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

6. Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential

7. Outstanding relationship building capabilities and a collaborative working style.

8. A strong team player with the ability to be self-driven

9. Strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm and ability to excel in a flexible, fast paced environment

10. Ability to take initiative and have a passion for positive results

**Details**

1. Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm on site
